THE LESSON
“It is not like that. It's not like that at all. You have a constant urge to collect. But should also be subtracting. It should not just be joining. It should also be separated. That's how it is in life. That's how it is in philosophy. That's how it is in science. This is how progress and civilization happen"
In the play "The Lesson" according to the author Eugene Ionesco, the concept of the whole play consists in the title itself, which complements the work: "The Lesson". It was reached by justifying the absurd in the character of the "Professor", and also justifying the absurd itself as a means of expression of the most famous absurd author.
A modern cut gets the author's strong concept starting from his work through the director's prism which clearly talks about today's social problems from an educational as well as an advanced point of view of people. The criticism is emphasized through the lucid mission of the professor who, unable to deal with the new generation, decides to make a Machiavellian choice and selection of the readable from the unreadable creatures of the planet earth - performing in a way - complete from his aspect - justified genocide.
The physical theater worked in the style and direction of Meyerhold is present in the game as a symbolic means of expression in general of the main character in the play, highlighting his aggressiveness in the play, which is intensified more and more from the beginning to the end of the play - also the choreographies themselves progress with it, which are more prominent towards the end and more intense.
The absurd at first seems untrue - until we start dealing with it.
